Why I wrote this book
After a car accident in my teens left me with chronic pain, I did what most men between 25 and 60 are taught to do, I pushed through. I stayed busy. I told myself it was fine. Because that’s what strength looks like, right? You don’t stop. You don’t ask for help. You just keep going.
But the body has a way of demanding what the mind refuses to ask for. And eventually, mine did.
That search for something better led me to essential oils, sound therapy, and a set of holistic practices that quietly began to bring me back to myself. I started calling the whole approach “downshifting” not slowing down permanently, but finding the gear that gets you further without burning you out along the way.
It changed my life. And I wrote this book because I genuinely believe it can change yours too.
